Martyn Hanlon is a Master Mariner, Founding Partner and Managing Director of Hanlon Harding Ltd. Martyn has over 46 years of experience in the commercial shipping industry having served on most types of vessel in his seagoing career. He is a qualified RN Specialist Warfare Navigator (PWO N) and has over 27 years experience as a Senior Pilot at the UK Haven Ports, handling everything from small coasters, bulk carriers, tankers and passenger ships; to ULCCs visiting the UK’s largest container terminal at Felixstowe.

Martyn has conducted investigations for the UK DfT, Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) and the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD).

Martyn is experienced in London Arbitration and has regularly given expert evidence at London Maritime Arbitrators Association (LMAA) hearings.

Clive Harding is a Master Mariner, Founding Partner and Chairman of Hanlon Harding Ltd. He has almost 45 years of experience in the Marine Industry which started when he went to sea as a Cadet with the New Zealand Shipping Company in 1972. He has experience of Command with both Roll-on/Roll Off Ferries and Passenger Ferries alongside 14 years of experience with P&O in their Cruise Liner and Container Ship divisions. He was just 32 when he undertook his first Command with Maersk with whom he also had a spell of shore secondment to undertake maritime safety audits. He has held Pilotage Exemption Certificates for Medway, Thames, Zeebrugge and Dunkirk and has been responsible for DDR preparation and Ship Society surveys. He also spent a period as an Assistant Superintendent with Sally Line. Clive joined Harwich Haven Authority in 1993 and spent 27 years as a Marine Pilot handling a complete range of vessels from small coasters into the ports of Mistley and Ipswich to ULCCs trading to the Port of Felixstowe.
